What could be better than spending a day with your daughter? Well I had the wonderful opportunity of spending the day with her and both of us selling what we love to do. To give you all a back ground on how we started. Last May it was my friend's birthday . I wanted to give her something special, not something I just picked up at a store and threw in a bag just to say I bought you something, I wanted it to come from my heart. I scoured through Pinterest to find something unique and beautiful. Then wham it was right in front of me I can make her a hand painted wine glass. I have over the years been very crafty , so I though how hard can this be. Off I went to Michael's Craft store to purchase the supplies I needed to start this project. I found a product that I could make elegant swirls all over the glass. It came out great but it needed some jazzing up . I decide to add a chalk board base to it in a black color. I loved it. She also love it. It was very obvious to me to continue doing this so every one of my friends received a hand painted glass from me for their birthday last year. Although those glasses are very different from my glasses today . Working on my technique every day has helped me add more beautiful elements and make my glasses especially floral's look more realistic. I found my passion!! I love the challenge of someone requesting a special order, I practiced and practiced until I got it right. To date I have painted well over 500 glasses. With out my friends and customers I would never have succeeded in doing something I absolute love.
My daughter story is a little different, She wanted to learn to sew for many years and she realized that paying so much for a headband was crazy . We shopped for a sewing machine and she purchased it for an investment into her company. After purchasing fabric and teaching herself to sew ( with a little help from Grandma and Mom) Her headbands were gorgeous. She has been sewing for a month and has sold many of them. I have been doing vendor shows for about a year and this last week she set up her headband at the Farmer's Market, People loved them! What a wonderful accomplishment! Through word of mouth she has sold many of them. Nothing makes a mother prouder than having a child succeed at what she loves and Head in the Clouds 7 was born.
